Precision braiding and faux locs in the Ottawa region
Cornrows, Scalp braids & Soft Locs in Nepean
At Slayed by Davia, cornrows and soft locs in Nepean are not afterthoughts on a long service menu. Whether you want the graphic, flat-to-the-scalp precision of cornrows or the full, flowing weight of soft locs, both styles require the same thing from the person installing them: control over parting, over tension, over where the style sits on your head and how it holds over time.

Professional cornrows & scalp braids services
Not all cornrows & scalp braids are built the same. We have refined our cornrows services around three distinct styles, each one chosen because it delivers something different in terms of finish, texture, and wear experience. Here is what that looks like up close.
Lightweight Soft Locs
Soft locs sit in a category of their own. They carry the visual presence of traditional dreadlocks without the weight or the commitment. Soft locs are installed with consistent sizing and even weight distribution across the head.

Longevity & Maintenance guide for Cornrows and Locs
How long your style lasts depends less on how it was installed and more on what you do after you leave the studio. Here is what we tell every cornrow and soft locs client before they walk out the door.
Keep your scalp hydrated throughout the wear period. A lightweight oil applied directly to the scalp every 3 to 4 days prevents the dryness and flaking that make cornrows look old before their time. Wrap your hair in a satin scarf at night with cotton pillowcases pull moisture from both the hair and the extensions, which speeds up frizz along the parts.
To keep your soft locs neat and long-lasting, protect them every night with a satin bonnet or scarf. This helps reduce frizz and keeps the style looking polished.
Keep your scalp lightly moisturized, but avoid using too much oil or heavy products, as buildup can make the style feel heavy and less fresh. When needed, gently clean your scalp with a light scalp cleanser or diluted shampoo, focusing mainly on the roots.
Avoid pulling, tight ponytails, or excessive styling, especially around your edges. With the right care, your soft locs can stay beautiful, clean, and comfortable for several weeks.
One thing applies to both
void heavy product buildup at the roots. Buildup is the main reason styles look dense and heavy rather than clean and defined by week four.
